Beth is our Pro Shop Manager at Blackwood Tennis. Although this is her first year working in the tennis industry, she has been playing the game since the age of 5 and is no stranger to the sport. Her biggest professional passion is the customer service she can consistently deliver. Beth understands the value of real human connection within our increasingly-automated society, and the gratitude she receives for sincere service inspires her to go the extra mile when helping guests. Moreover, Beth has been a local to the islands for over 23 years, making her our go-to resource for essentially all major to mundane questions, such as where to find the local post office. Her educational background makes her an even more helpful asset to our team and our guests; with a BS in Elementary Education, she seamlessly translates her solid grasp on classroom management and communication to the tennis center’s kids and parents. In fact, Beth’s children are her biggest accomplishment and her biggest proof at being good at her job: to be a role model, set the bar high, and foster creativity and enjoyment. Families are Beth’s favorite clients to work with at Blackwood, as she loves to watch both parents and children come out to hit together. She enjoys overhearing the ways in which people connect with each other, whether it’s over serious, yet friendly competition or just being silly and laughing with each other. She believes tennis is not only a fitness sport, but a social sport as well. You might be surprised to learn that Beth is also a great singer! If she could work for free, she’d grow herbs and vegetables to give away at a roadside stand wearing a big straw hat underneath Florida’s sunshine.
